Over the last 25 years, Erik developed extensive expertise and deep domain knowledge working at major telecom companies. His international career includes senior & executive level positions. Over the years, Erik has been a regular speaker & moderator at major international telecom conferences.
Mr. Loukas Balis, holds the position of OTEGLOBE’s Product Marketing Manager, heading the Product Management Department since October 2012. By joining OTEGLOBE in 2008 as Product Manager, he contributed significantly to the development of OTEGLOBE’s service portfolio in international Voice and Data business. He has also actively participated in the expansion of OTEGLOBE’s network footprint in new markets, by representing the company in int’l consortium cables such as SMW3 and AAE-1. From 2016 to 2021, Mr. Balis was the Chairman of the AAE-1 submarine cable Management Committee.
Mr. Balis holds a University Degree in Electrical Engineering from the National Technical University of Athens with Major in Telecommunications & Electronics.
Marco works as Regional Director for DE-CIX and is responsible for Middle East and South Asia. His current focus is on developing UAE-IX as the first 100 percent neutral IXP in the Middle East and help to develop DE-CIX in India.
Coming from a software development background, Marco founded HAPPYsoft, a software development company, in 1992, and HAPPYnet, one of the first ISPs in Austria, in 1995. In 2003, Marco founded i3b and from that time on he focused on the field of telecom wholesale. After driving forward i3b’s internationalization as wholesale partner for last mile and MPLS connections and finally selling IP transit, the company was sold to its biggest wholesale customer (2010) and ever since Marco worked as independent consultant in the telecom industry in the field of Internet Exchanges and Digital Hub Development.
Huda is a Computer Engineer holding a degree of B.A. electrical and computer engineering from Muscat, Oman and master of science information and communication technology business management from Paris , France, having a strong experience of 14 years in telecommunication , currently holds the position of Senior Manager capacity and submarine cables at Omantel responsible of Capacity and submarine sales and procurement enthusiastically , infrastructure expansion and business partnership.
Huda is an ambitious worker and she is the first Omani woman working in the field of submarine business.
As both a Chartered Engineer and Chartered IT Professional with over 25 years of experience in the data centre sector Mark has been a specialist in the field of data centre operations and technical management for more than 2 decades. During this time he has focussed on the delivery of business critical services from highly reliable, world class data centres with 24x365 availability expectations.
Now operating as an Independent Consultant and Technical Advisor with extensive international experience and solid technical skills combining data centre facilities design, IT and facilities operational management, energy efficiency and engineering expertise to support all facets of the Data Centre Lifecycle.
A regular public speaker, conference host and industry thought leader on data centre technical issues as well as sitting on multiple technical and advisory boards. Mark is also involved in the development of International data centre Standards through ISO and CENELEC as the UK national representative as well as being the Technical Editor and Committee Chair of the European Commission Code of Conduct on data centre energy efficiency.
